NUFC now in ‘talks’ to sign French striker – but he’ll only sign on one condition – Report

According to L’Equipe, Newcastle are currently ‘negotiating’ a deal to sign highly-rated Lyon striker Myziane Maolida – although the 19-year old may only agree to sign if he is given first team assurances by Rafa Benitez.

It’s hardly the proven striker Benitez is crying out for and is instead probably a deal where Ashley is seeing future pound signs, however Maoilida is rated as one of the top young talents in France – having represented his country at every level from U-16 to U19.

He also made 22 appearances in Lyon’s first team last season and impressed during the recent Euro U-19 Championships.

Here’s what both Get French Football News have had to say on the deal in the last few moments, sharing L’Equipe’s latest story on the strikers potential move to Tyneside:

‘Premier League side Newcastle United are currently negotiating the potential arrival of 19-year-old Lyon forward Myziane Maolida, according to L’Équipe.

‘The starlet impressed during the recent EURO U19 championships and is seeking to leave Les Gones for increased playing time.

‘The recent arrival of Reo Griffiths (from Tottenham) could facilitate the player’s departure.’

A good deal for the club and exciting prospect for the future? Yes. The answer to our problems? You’d think not (or at least it would be a huge risk to think that way).

A potential coup for Newcastle United, but more risky business from the club, who continue to pursue deals with ‘sell on potential’ instead of listening to Rafa’s demands for a proven Premier League goalscorer.

Nevertheless, here’s him in action:
