Jamaal Lascelles has told Sky Sports’ Keith Downie that new NUFC signing Salomon Rondon is ‘the most physical striker’ he’s ever faced in the Premier League.
Considering the 6ft 2′ Venezuelan is now a Newcastle United player for the upcoming 2018/19 season, these are some promising comments to hear from the captain.
The Venezuelan lined up against Lascelles twice last season, playing in our 2-2 draw at the Hawthorns in November (2017) and the 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park back in April (2018).
Here’s what Sky’s Keith Downie has had to say on Twitter after speaking to the skipper about Rondon, admitting that he found him to be the ‘most physical’ striker he’s come up against:
Spoke to Jamaal Lascelles on Saturday who revealed Salomon Rondon is the most physical striker he’s faced in the Premier League.

“Spoke to Jamaal Lascelles on Saturday who revealed Salomon Rondon is the most physical striker he’s faced in the Premier League.”
I was at the game in April and he was a real handful, being one of very few players Lascelles has struggled to deal with physically (the only other player I remember him struggling to deal with physically was Burnley’s Ashley Barnes)
Good to hear and something that bodes well ahead of his season-long loan at the club – especially when he’ll more than likely be leading the lines on his own.
Can’t understand all the negative views….He is a top player who is likely to a top player for the Toon.
Shame they didn’t buy him.
