Adam Armstrong has now completed a permanent move to Blackburn on a day that looks set to see two leave and one sign – with it emerging that Dwight Gayle will also seal a move to West Brom ‘today’, meaning Salomon Rondon’s arrival looks imminent.
After a fee of £1.75m (plus £1.25m in add-ons) was agreed at the back end of last week, the Armstrong has now completed a move to Blackburn, penning a 4-year deal with the club after a successful loan spell at Ewood Park last season.
This isn’t the only bit of movement on the striker front today, with both Lee Ryder and Peter O’Rourke stating that Gayle’s move to West Brom is now done – which should result in Rondon being announced as an NUFC player at some point today as a result of the pair’s ‘loan swap’:
We understand that Dwight Gayle's move should go through later today. The discussions have been about wages and who picks up the difference between Rondon and Gayle's earnings. #nufc #wba

Back to Armstrong, here’s what he’s had to say since sealing a permanent move away from St James’ Park:
“I won’t worry too much about leaving Newcastle because I’m at another great club and I can get my head down now, really kick on and show people what I can do.”

A talented young player but a deal that probably suits all parties – even if some NUFC fans worry that letting him go so soon may come back to haunt us.
Good luck to Arma!
