With Salmon Rondon now confirmed as a Newcastle United player, we’ve found out what West Brom fans think of the striker ahead of his season-long loan at St James’ Park.
The striker has been handed the famous number 9 shirt, swapping clubs with Dwight Gayle for the upcoming season – with the ex-Palace man sealing a switch in the opposite direction today.
Here’s what West Brom fans have had to say on Twitter when asked for their thoughts on Rondon:
Whatever you think of rondon no one can deny he's had a thankless task during his time at the Albion under muppets like pulis and pardew. I for one hope he smashes at Newcastle, good luck Ronnie ??#wba

Never understood any criticism that fellow baggies have fired towards Rondon. I will be truly sad to see him leave, has been asked to do the thankless donkey work in systems rigid in defence. Powerhouse, committed and a top bloke! #wba

Class 1st touch and top at holding the ball up, will play well if he signs with better players and in a more attacking side rather than route 1 under Pards n Pulis
In an attacking team he’ll score goals. Harry Kane or any striker would struggle in the WBA team over the last 3 years. I’ll be sad to see him go if he does….
He did a lot better elsewhere with better creative players around him. Never played to his strengths and never created enough opportunities for him.
I think with better service and a more confident manager he could do well, what strikers score more than 10 in a tony pulis team?
Honest albion fan, he’s quality with the right service always gives 100% and a model professional. Be very sad if he leaves
Splits opinion.. won’t get you a lot of goals but gives his all.. plus he has only played under Pulis and pards overall.. Benitez might know what he’s about.. our midfield was slow so with quicker players supporting him, you may see him bag more goals
Flatters to deceive in opinion of hard working, doesn’t work a back line, hold up play is average at best , link up is poor and can’t score. Please take him ASAP so we can reinvest in our squad
Doesn’t matter how many players he has around him, when pardew was sacked I saw a stat that claimed he had 30 something shots from inside the area , scored 3 .. simply not good enough
He honestly does NOT hold the ball up well. That is his major flaw and it’s also the biggest myth about him. Nothing sticks to him, everything bounces off – doesn’t win flick ons, poor first touch, astonishingly he doesn’t use his size or strength to bully defenders. He’s poor.
Very good striker starved of any kind of service, play with a partner and will easily get you 12-15 goals a season, play with Jake Livermore and Krychowiak as creative midfielders, you’re getting absolutely nothing
24 PL goals under the stewardship of Tony Pulis is prolific, trust me. With about one chance a game (if we were lucky), next to no support and questionable delivery I think he did well scoring 24 PL goals. Expect he’ll better that at a more attack-minded side
I call him Rondonkey, hope this helps
If you could win games based on effort than he’d win the league for you but actual goals are hit and miss with him, some days you’ll love him & some days you’ll wanna drive him back down the M6 to us
Works hard, strong but not a finisher. Not sure I would want him as a fan of another club
No composure in front of goal , puts a shift in , prefer mitrovic !
Works hard. Always 100%. A very frustrating player. Produces moments of pure class. Then his first touch goes further than I can kick it. Hence the reason why you’ve only got to pay 16m.
Just being honest with you. The reason us fans have not hounded him for being useless is because he works hard and is a nice bloke. Genuinely.
Thank you so much, you gave everything you had for the club and I’ll be forever greatful for how you never gave up even though the tactics weren’t in your favour. Best of luck and please come back I love you

Some very interesting comments, with the majority actually feeling as though he could be a surprisingly good signing for NUFC.
Regardless of what anyone says, I believe in the above statement. Let’s get behind the lad!
