Moussa Sissoko could now be facing Spurs ban after ‘incident’ on Saturday – Watch it here

According The Sun’s Dan King, Moussa Sissoko may now be facing a three-match ban after being shown to have trodden on Kenedy’s calf during Tottenham’s 2-1 win at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the 43rd minute of the first half and it seems the Frenchmen could face now face retrospective action after the alleged ‘stamp’ was missed by referee Martin Atkinson.

Here’s a clip of the incident:

One thing to note about this; whether he meant it or not, you can almost guarantee that Jonjo Shelvey would’ve been shown red had he done it! There’s not actually that much between this and Jonjo’s stamp on Dele Alli this time last year.

Time will tell if he faces any retrospective action, but it was easily avoidable and very clumsy – even if there was no malice behind it from Moussa.

Do you think he should’ve seen red for this?

  1. Being a Spurs fan I don’t think anyone can blame Sissoko he clearly doesn’t have full control of his feet.

  2. Spurs knew what NUFC players have some talent and were ready to bang into or with them to neutralize them. When Rondon came on, there was both talent and size to contend with and that strategy was dropped to save flagging energy. Therefore NUFC got some chances, but not quite enough talent or luck to go with it to get anything.

  3. I bet ALL Spurs fans hope Sissoko is banned for the rest of the season!! Why Pochettino picks him is baffling. He’s useless. Hopeless first touch, can’t pass the ball more than a few feet and even then he passes it to the opposition. When he gets the ball he hasn’t a clue what to do with it. Seriously Spurs would be better off without him and playing with 10 men. He cost Spurs £30m and is on at least £80k per week (maybe even £100k per week). Yet he can’t play football!! He must be the worst footballer Spurs have ever bought.

  5. Good so maybe we will play with 11 players. How the hell we keep playing him. Aurier has to step up a bit as well.

  6. If that was a Toon player the ban would already be drafted.
I thought Spuds were very good, and was an entertaining game which maybe 2-2 would have been a fair result, but you don’t always get what you deserve. Good luck to Spuds and see you all in London.

    Cardiff here we come…..

  7. funny how MOTD didn’t bother to highlight that one – probably means no ban. Imagine if Shelvey had done that…
