NUFC ignore Rafa Benitez’s latest Peter Beardsley warning – What a mess

According to the Daily Mail, the club have STILL not made a decision on the future of  Peter Beardsley – despite it being over SEVEN months since he was suspended for alleged racism and bullying.

Rafa Benitez clearly wants to situation resolved too, with the manager recently pleading with the club to ‘sort things out’, however no resolution has been forthcoming – with Ben Dawson continuing to stand in for U-23 duties despite the Premier League 2 season having kicked off last night.

As you may well know, Beardsley was accused of making discriminatory comments towards Yasin Ben El-Mhanni (and several other youngsters) – however Beardsley has continued to deny the allegations.

Here’s a snippet from Craig Hope’s latest piece for The Mail, suggesting the club are still no further forward with the matter – with Lee Charnley shelving the matter in a bid to concentrate on ‘transfer business’ recently:

Newcastle United have still not reached a decision on the future of Under-23 coach Peter Beardsley – more than seven months after he was suspended amid allegations of racism and bullying.

The club refuse to comment on the progress of the investigation, despite manager Rafa Benitez saying it is ‘important to sort things out’.

Managing director Lee Charnley has been heading the investigation. However, the Beardsley case was shelved as Charnley concentrated on transfer business during the close-season.

Academy staff and players returned for the new season unaware if the unpopular coach would be returning.

Newcastle were urged to investigate Beardsley’s treatment of academy players as far back as 2016 after the family of England youth international Lewis Gibson contacted the club to raise concerns. A grievance meeting was attended by the player and his family, as well as Beardsley, Charnley and academy director Joe Joyce.

But we understand Beardsley refused to accept he had done anything wrong. He was allowed to continue in his role and it was to the dismay of many in the academy when Gibson reluctantly left his boyhood club for Everton.

Beardsley denies all of the allegations.

This perhaps proved how slow and one-paced Lee Charnley is, showing the club’s incompetence when it comes to sorting out serious issues that Benitez clearly wants resolved.

Hopefully things are sorted out as soon as possible.

This can not be allowed to drag on any further.

  1. Penfold shelved the investigation to concentrate on transfer business? give me a break, wouldnt surprise me if Ashley had him set up the HOF deal and tasked an agency management company the role of setting up nufc transfer business it makes sense as to why the was so much dilly dallying over deals and Mike Ashley was contactable to green light deals.
