Michael Owen unearths surprise NUFC stat during prediction for Cardiff vs Newcastle

Michael Owen is expecting us to get our first point on the board this weekend, predicting a draw with Cardiff on Saturday – also revealing that our recent defeat to Spurs was the FIFTH time we’ve lost our opening game in the last SIX years.

Several pundits (Merson, Lawrenson and Owen) all had us to get a point last weekend – however we came away empty handed, despite being good value for a point.

Owen is tipping us for a draw once again this weekend, predicting Warnock’s side will pick up a ‘hard-earned’ point during their first home game back in the Premier League for five years:

“Newcastle lost their opening day fixture for the fifth time in the last six years against Spurs last weekend but, on another day, United would have picked up at least a point having hit the woodwork twice in the second half.

“The City Of Cardiff Stadium will be rocking for their first home Premier League game since 2013 and, if they are to survive in the division, their home form will be pivotal.

“I think the Bluebirds will pick up a hard-earned point.”

‘Prediction: Game to finish in a draw.’

A draw wouldn’t be a disaster – with many believing any away point in the Premier League is a good one – but this really is one Rafa and the lads will be looking to win; especially with Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal to follow!

Back to Owen’s surprise stat – can you name the scoreline, the year and the team we played when we last won our opening game of the season?
