Moussa Sissoko sends message to the NUFC fans booing him during Saturday’s defeat to Spurs

After being asked if the abuse he receives from Newcastle fans annoys him, Spurs midfielder Moussa Sissoko claims the boo boys only give him ‘more energy’.

The ex-NUFC midfielder made another return to St.James’ at the weekend as he was drafted into the Spurs XI due to the continued absence of Moussa Dembele after his World Cup exploits and he received inevitable patches of abuse from the home crowd.

Since then, he’s been asked on social media whether he gets ‘annoyed’ from the boos from Newcastle fans – and his response was emphatic. See it below:

Q – Are you annoyed Newcastle fans boo you?

“No. They give me more energy”

I think most Newcastle fans will agree that if only criticism and jeers motivated him and gave him more energy a few years ago, we might not have been relegated!

Granted, Sissoko could have said worse, but it will still likely irk Newcastle fans. Luckily Dubravka made a great save to deny Sissoko the chance of a goal which would have been a nightmare for us.

We managed to somehow to secure £30m for him, which even in today’s market is scandalous – especially after signing him for just £2m – the Mike Ashley dream.

Moussa got his ‘Champions League’ move to Spurs despite always ‘dreaming’ of Arsenal and it’s safe to say he hasn’t endeared himself to Tottenham fans either and has barely played.

Good riddance to bad characters like this who sent us down, talented players or not.

  1. “Barely played” = Just the 82 appearances for Spurs so far. Forget about Sissoko, he’s gone, we haven’t missed him and we got a huge fee (not that Ashley lets Rafa spend the money, but that’s another question).

  2. It’s hard to tell the difference between the observations of Newcastle fans and their opposite numbers at Spurs! Only difference is how much we paid for him versus your £2m . Amazes me that Rafa stays; you deserve him more than you do Mike Ashley. PS if booing makes him stronger maybe we should try it. Good luck Geordies (especially at the Emirates) but don’t expect any favours at the new WHL – unless you want your erstwhile star on a free.
