Neil Warnock makes shameless Mike Ashley claim ahead of our trip to Cardiff tomorrow

Mike Ashley is an ‘easy target’ according to Neil Warnock, with the Cardiff manager claiming that there’s not much more he could’ve done this summer to improve our squad.

Considering Warnock is a man known to speak his mind and say it like it is, it’s disappointing to hear him defend an owner who’s clearly not done enough to back Rafa Benitez this summer.

It’s so easy to say ‘oh but they’ve signed seven players and the squad has improved’, but marginal improvements and a MINUS £20m net spend is NOT what Benitez signed up for – and it’s not what Ashley himself promised just a few weeks ago.

Here’s what Warnock has had to say today when speaking to the press ahead of tomorrow’s game:

“I think that’s a bit of hot air.

“If you look at their squad and their players, they’ve improved from last year and they finished 10th last year. So I don’t know how much more they could improve.

“I think that’s a bit tongue-in-cheek and I think Mike Ashley is an easy target ‘let’s blame him.’

Whether this is what he actually thinks or just a way of riling NUFC fans ahead of the game remains to be seen, but it’s pretty petty either way and far from the truth.

Let’s hope we can keep him quiet tomorrow!
