NUFC receive two offers for Isaac Hayden and Ciaran Clark – Report

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have received loan offers from Aston Villa and Stoke for want-away midfielder Isaac Hayden – with Steve Bruce also trying to sign Ciaran Clark on loan.

Hayden is still keen to secure a move away from Tyneside for ‘personal reasons’ according to reports today, however it seems Benitez is reluctant to lose him given the limited number of central midfielders at our disposal.

Ki Sung-Yeung may have signed this summer, with with Merino sold and Colback and Saivet heading out on loan, letting Hayden go would leave us with just three senior central midfielders (Ki, Shelvey and Diame) – and that isn’t enough.

It’s a difficult situation, with the Mirror claiming that Hayden is now in ‘limbo’, but you can see why Benitez feels unable to let him go.

As for Clark, I really can’t see us sanctioning a loan move for him either. He started last weekend’s season opener vs Spurs and although Fernandez or Schar may take his first team space in the weeks to come, we need all the centre-backs we can get after Lejeune’s long term injury.

I’d be very surprised if Rafa sanctioned either of these deals..
