After getting injured just a few days after completing a move to Porto at the end of July, Chancel Mbemba has now missed out on a place in their 25-man squad for the Champions League group stages.
The 24-year old was left on crutches just 48 hours after arriving in Portugal, getting injured in his opening appearance for the club in a pre-season friendly – and it turns out he’s still out injured.
There’s no date set for his return and he’s yet to make a competitive appearance for Porto six weeks on from signing – with him now missing out on their squad for the Champions League group stages as a result.
He’s also missed out on DR Congo’s latest squad for the international break as a result, with them due to play Liberia in their African Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.
Hopefully he can get back fit soon and become a success at Porto – although it will be a real blow for him to miss out on the Champions League, with this likely to be one of the main things that attracted him to the club.
