NUFC player absolutely destroyed after ‘shocking’ performance on international duty

Wales kicked off their Nations League campaign with an emphatic 4-1 victory over the Republic of Ireland last night – and Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark has been absolutely slated following his performance.

Clark played the full 90, picking up a yellow card and being at fault for several goals during the defeat, with fans of Ireland, Newcastle and former club Aston Villa taking to social media to comment on his ‘shocking’ display.

Here’s some comments from Twitter last night:

“Clumsy, slow, rash and positional sense very questionable. How has this guy had a career at the top level?…. shocking”

“Ciarán Clark is the worst centre half to ever play for us. Currently I don’t think we’ve anyone better. Worrying.’

“Speaking of awful players how is Ciaran Clark still a Premier League and international footballer?”

“Ciaran clark at fault for two goals, imagine my surprise”

“How not to defend, by Ciaran Clark”

“Ciaran Clark teaching the youngsters how NOT to defend tonight.. Awful defender.”

“Ciaran Clark just isn’t fussed is he? At fault for all three goals.”

“Stephen Ward and Ciaran Clark are using this international break as a holiday. May as well be out in Barbados…”

“Ciaran Clark is sincerely the worst defender I’ve ever seen play at Premier League/international level.”

“We need Mick McCarthy, not to coach though, just to replace Ciaran Clark.”

Ciaran Clark wouldn’t turn in Trafalgar Square.. He is solid useless!”

On a positive note, Paul Dummett featured for Wales – making his first competitive appearance for the Dragons at the Cardiff City Stadium.
