VIDEO – Ben Arfa scores 90th min Europa League winner to complete dream debut – Watch here

On his first appearance since April 2017, Hatem Ben Arfa came off from the bench to score a 90th minute winner for Rennes in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The former Newcastle midfielder has endured a difficult few years, failing to kick a ball over the entire 2017/18 season after being banished from Unai Emery’s plans at PSG.

He was released by PSG earlier this summer and finally found himself a new club earlier this month, signing for Ligue 1 side Rennes.

The 31-year old was an unused substitute in their defeat to Nice over the weekend, but came off the bench in the Europa League on Thursday night and marked his first game back in well over a year with a late winner from the spot:

A mercurial talent and one who could’ve achieved so much more with the right attitude.

Either way, it’s great to see him back playing and doing what he does best.

He gave us some brilliant memories at Newcastle. On his day, perhaps one of the most talented player we’ve seen at St James’ Park.
