After being released by the club over the summer, former Newcastle United youngster Paul Woolston is now ‘impressing’ on trial at Manchester United according to MEN.
Woolston had been part of our U-23 set up, however it was confirmed that he was going to be released by the club when the 2017/18 retained list was announced in June.
The 20-year-old didn’t make an appearance at senior level during his time at the club and only played a handful of games for the U-23’s last season, however he has represented England at U-17 and U-18 level.
He was named on the bench for Manchester United’s U-23s win over Middlesbrough on Sunday, with MEN claiming that his ‘distribution and ability’ has impressed United coaches.
Interestingly, they also report that his height – just under 6ft – was ‘part of the reason’ why Newcastle let him go.
With Mbabu and Mitrovic going on to find form after leaving the club, could this be another one we live to regret?
