Just a few months after leaving the club, Ivan Toney has scored an 84th minute equaliser to deny Sunderland a win at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night.
Despite their recent drop down to the third tier of English football, the Mackems had been enjoying a strong start to life in League Two, being unbeaten in their last six on their way to climbing into the play off places.
On Tuesday night they faced 2nd place side Peterborough, and despite taking the lead twice, they ended up conceding late on – with ex-NUFC striker Ivan Toney scoring in the 84th minute to rob them of two points.
Spoke too soon!?

Ironically, Toney was linked with a loan move to Sunderland over the summer, but ended up leaving for Peterborough on a permanent deal.
First we had Ameobi and now we’ve got Toney. It looks like we may have a new Mackem slayer on our hands!
