Winger reveals how he was ‘very keen’ to sign for NUFC over the summer

Kenedy has admitted that he was ‘always very keen’ to return to Newcastle United over the summer – saying he was ‘delighted’ when the deal to bring him back on loan was completed in July.

The Brazilian was superb during a six month loan spell in the second half of last season, but to say he’s been a disappointing during his second spell is an understatement.

Here’s what he’s had to say when speaking to FourFourTwo this week:

“I was always very keen to come back.

“The first loan spell worked out very well for Newcastle and myself, so when I heard they were interested in bringing me back this season, I was delighted.

“I didn’t play too much for Chelsea, so getting more minutes here can only be good for my career.”

It nice to hear that he was ‘always’ keen to come back and delighted when his return was finally conformed, however he really does need to rediscover form; not only for his own career, but for our survival hopes.

He was one of the key reasons behind our rise from relegation candidates to a top half finish just earlier in the year.

He looked after the ball well, chipped in with a few goals and gave us that bit of flare we’d been lacking, but, so far this season, he’s been anything but those things.

He sorely lacking in confidence after horror shows at Cardiff and Forest and, from an attacking perspective, he hasn’t showed much sign of improvement since, unfortunately.

Let’s hope he can get back to his best. We need him to!

  1. As a father I can understand what Kennedy is going through, he is a new dad and is learning it all, I played a week after my daughter was born and it was the worst I have ever played, it took a while for me to rediscover my form, hopefully a professional will take less time
