According to The Mirror, Newcastle United have sent scouts to watch promising Aston Vila youngster Mitchell Clark – with West Ham also said to be keen on the 19-year-old.
Clark predominantly operates as a right-back but can also operate down the left-hand side, with him presumably being seen as someone we could sign up to our U-23 set up.
The Wales U-19 international is currently on loan with League Two side Port Vale, and it’s being reported that we’ve sent some of our talent spotters to watch him recently ahead of a potential move.
We may be in desperate need of additional full-back cover, however the signing of an unproven 19-year-old is hardly the answer as we head into what could be a huge January transfer window.
