Jonas Gutierrez has vowed to return to St James’ Park ‘one day’, saying that the best moments of his life were his seven years on Tyneside and that he’d love to return ‘soon’.
At the age of 35, it’s fair to say he won’t be returning as a player, but it sounds like he’d jump at the chance of filling any coaching role.
Gutierrez may not have been the most talented of footballers, but he got what it meant to play for NUFC. He never gave up, he had a go and he was so passionate.
He’s still not hung up his boots, with him now playing for top flight Argentinian side Defensa y Justicia, however he posted the following to Twitter as he sat down to watch Saturday’s game at Southampton (proving that he still follows all of our games from Argentina!):
“Easy question , best moment in your life ? My 7 years in Newcastle.
“Thanks Geordie nation for your support.
“I know I will be back soon or later.”

Never be forgotten geordie nation, thanks for your support. Always watching and support the team. The best of luck. Once a geordie forever a geordie. Missing the city and all the great moment over my seven years at the club.

A top bloke, a model pro and a real fighter.
After everything he’s been through, it would be great to have him back once Ashley is gone.
