Despite claims yesterday that Sebastien Haller was Benitez’s ‘top target’ ahead of the January window, The Chronicle report that we’ve also got our eye on fellow Frankfurt forward Luka Jovic.
The story covers Rafa Benitez’s January wish-list – confirming his plan to sign a striker, a number 10 and a left-back in January – and also mentions that club the have ‘checked out’ both Haller and Jovic during scouting trips to Germany.
Both strikers have enjoyed an impressive start to the Bundesliga season, but Jovic’s numbers art particularly impressive. He’s scored 7 goals in 7 league games so far this season, also scoring twice in three appearances in the Europa League.
He is only 20, however, so is a player with limited experience and someone who would be deemed a risky signing given our need for proven goal-getter.
One to watch if a move for Haller fails to materialise – providing he is in fact Rafa’s ‘number one’ striker target in January.
