Striker responds to rumours linking him with January move to NUFC as club name asking price

NUFC target Sebastien Haller has insisted that ‘money isn’t everything in football’ when being asked about a potential move away from Frankfurt in January – with the German side said to be demanding upwards of £17m for the in-form striker.

It has been confirmed recently by several local papers (Chronicle and Northern Echo) that Benitez is a big fan of the Frenchman, with some even stating that he is the Spaniard’s ‘top target’ heading into the January window.

With 8 goals and 7 assists in the Bundesliga so far this season it’s easy to see why, however it doesn’t sound like he’ll be on the move anytime soon based on his latest comments.

Not only that, German outlet FAZ claim that Frankfurt will be demanding at least £17m for the striker (and most likely upwards of £20m) after his impressive start to the season.

He’s clearly a long-term target of Rafa’s, with him being linked in January half way through our promotion season and again in the summer of 2017, but he doesn’t have any real reason to leave Frankfurt in fairness.

His side are in the Europa League, currently lie 5th in the Bundesliga after a strong start and he’s the joint top scorer in the league.

There’s bound to be several clubs interested and, in all honesty, it feels like this is another striker we’ve missed the boat on.

It’s tough enough task as it is signing any striker in January, with clubs often unwilling to part or asking for inflated fees, so signing one in such good form who’s so crucial to his team seems like too much of an uphill task for a Newcastle United that have so often been unwilling to spend more than £14m..
