Just a few weeks on from reports that he would sign at Old Trafford, recently released Newcastle United goalkeeper Paul Woolston has been spotted training with the Manchester United first-team over the international break.
The 20-year-old was released by Rafa Benitez over the summer, yet has been on trial with Manchester United since September – and he appears to have impressed them.
Two months on and, as you can see below, the England U-18 international has been pictured training with Jose Mourinho’s senior side over the international break:

Strangely, there’s been no announcement regarding any official move to Manchester United, but with him training with them for a few months and now pictured with the first-team, it seems as though they’re planning to sign him up.
Whilst we have four capable goalkeepers on our books, with Dubravka our number one, Elliot and Darlow seen as senior back up options and England U-21 international Freddie Woodman one for the future, Woolston’s move to a big club like Man Utd makes you wonder if we were wrong to let him go so soon.
Woolston looks set to join the Academy at Old Trafford, seeing him feature in the their U-23 set up, but it will be interesting to see how he progresses.

It doesn’t make me wonder if we got it wrong. It makes me wonder if we have better goalkeepers than Man U.
