Federico Fernandez makes huge claim about NUFC player – “He’s the best in the Premier League..”

Federico Fernandez believes Jonjo Shelvey is ‘the best passer of the ball in the Premier League’, claiming that he always thinks quicker than other on the pitch.

This is quite a claim, however the centre-back seems convinced – having seen what Shelvey is capable of after playing with him both at Swansea and now at Newcastle.

Here’s what the Argentinian defender said when Soccer AM asked him who was the best passer at Newcastle United:

“That is easy! Jonjo Shelvey. We played together at Swansea and he’s a guy with great quality on the ball and every time he can make the pass between the lines.

“I think he’s the best passer of the ball in the Premier League, 100%. He’s good, he always thinks quicker than the others.”

He’s got to be up there, but I think a few Man City fans would laugh in your face if you said Shelvey was a better passer than Kevin De Bruyne.

Interestingly, Fernandez was also asked who was the strongest, the quickest and the best dribbler at Newcastle in the interview, going for Rondon as the strongest, Yedlin or Manquillo as the quickest (but Yedlin when he was pushed for an answer), and Ritchie, Perez or Kenedy as the best dribbler – claiming the Brazilian would be a ‘much, much better player’ if he found the right moment to pass.
