Newcastle have just done something they’ve failed to do since 2012..

After failing to get a single point in our last 11 attempts, last night’s win against Burnley was the first time in SIX years we have won a game on a Monday night in the Premier League.

Our last win came against Wigan way back in 2012, with two from Demba Ba and a stunner from Gael Bigirimana (remember him!?) giving us a 3-0 win at St James’ Park.

What made this stat even worse was the fact we’d failed to score in 8 of the last 11 games on a Monday night, failing to get a point in any prior to last night’s deserved victory at Turf Moor.

After Ritchie’s managed to put it wide from an open goal and Joselu’s one on one miss, I feared that the hoodoo would strike again as Burnley pressured us late on – but it wasn’t to be this time, and rightfully so in a game we dominated.

So, thankfully that monkey is off our back thanks to the win last night, allowing us to look at our next Monday night game with a bit of added confidence!

  1. Got to bear in mind at least half of those games occurred while we had the Grey Haired Numpty in charge and/or his sidekick (the best coach in the PL) Carvwho ?
