After sending scouts to watch him on several occasions already this season, it’s been confirmed once again that club officials went to watch Bordeaux star Francois Kamano over the weekend – a player I can see us signing in January.
Scouts in Attendance revealed that watched him during Bordeaux’s Europa League trip to Copenhagen earlier in the season and their league defeat at Nice in October, and now French outlet Mercato365 are saying we watched him in their 0-0 draw at Dijon on Saturday.
Now, I rarely have much confidence in Ashley to deliver the goods, however this is a player that appears to fit his ‘transfer policy’ perfectly – and it looks like Benitez is watching him closely after confirmation of several scouting missions now.
He is 22 – being a young player with potential (e.g ‘sell on value’ if you’re Ashley) – he’s in good form, having scored 10 goals in 23 games in all competitions this season, and he will be available at a cut-price fee, with him failing to sign a new deal at the club.
Obviously this is only one part of why this deal could be on the cards, but the amount of times we appear to have scouted him, coupled with reports that Rafa wants a winger with pace, suggest to me that he’s very much one to watch come the January transfer window.
Here’s him in action:
