Gary Neville claims ex-NUFC man is now the “most underrated” player in the Premier League..

Speaking ahead of the Merseyside Derby, Sky pundit Gary Neville claimed that ex-NUFC midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is now the most underrated player in the Premier League.

The Dutch international did manage an impressive 11 goals on his debut season on Tyneside, with his £14m arrival from PSV meaning he was the most expensive players we’ve signed since Michael Owen, however many criticised him from ‘disappearing’ in away games during our 2015/16 relegation season.

That said, he still earned a big money move to Liverpool and, despite a mixed start to life on Merseyside, he’s now really starting to cement his place in Jurgen Klopp’s side – and it’s fair to say his all round game has come on leaps and bounds.

He’s now an all action midfielder opposed to a goalscoring number 10, with Neville now believing he is the ‘most underrated’ player in the league – something a few Newcastle fans may be shocked to hear.

Whilst this is Gary going a bit overboard for me, Wijnaldum has tended to impress just about every time I watch Liverpool these days, with him looking far more of a rounded midfielder both on and off the ball.

Do you agree with Neville here?
