Just two days after Mark Hughes was sent packing, Southampton have now appointed former RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl as their new manager on a two-and-a-half year deal – the man known as the ‘Austrian Jurgen Klopp’.
With Southampton currently third bottom, having gathered just 9 points in their opening 14 games under Mark Hughes, it was no surprise to see the Welshman sacked.

Hasenhuttl has now come in and although he won’t be in the dugout for their tough trip to Tottenham tonight, his first game looks set to be their trip to Cardiff on Saturday.
The 51-year-old Austrian led Leipzig to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga in his first season in charge, with him also guiding them to 6th over the 2017/18 campaign.
Jurgen Klopp recently described his style of play to include ‘very lively football’, ‘aggression, pressing’ and a ‘very lively approach’ – suggesting the Saints may have a bit more about them before long.
