After Elias Sorensen scored his 18th goal of the season in Tuesday night’s Checktrade Trophy win at St James’, local reporter Craig Hope claims Rafa Benitez will now sit down with U-23 coach Ben Dawson to decide where he will loaned out to in January.
The 19-year-old Dane has been on fire this season, and although he can’t stop scoring with the reserves, it looks like he will be given the chance to prove his worth at senior level.
Sorensen has already gained interest from Hartlepool, however there appears to be several Football League sides aiming to sign him on loan in the new year – something U-23 boss Ben Dawson confirmed on Tuesday night:
“I know there is a lot of interest from League clubs to go on loan in January but it needs to be the right one.
“Getting the first loan right is key to making sure his development continues.”

For now let’s hope he can continue banging them in for the U-23’s and impressing Rafa whenever he’s invited to train with the first team – but as Dawson says, finding the ‘right club’ in January will be key for his development at senior level.
