Miguel Almiron’s father drops big hint when asked if he’ll make January move to NUFC

The father of Newcastle target Miguel Almiron has admitted that WE now have ‘the advantage’ in the race to sign the Atlanta star in January.

As you may remember, it was reported last week that we had agreed a loan with an option to buy the Paraguayan for £15m, and although their president has since rejected these claims, insisting that he would NOT be loaning him or selling him on the cheap, it does seem clear that we have strong interest in the highly-rated number 10.

It’ll come down to how much we are willing to pay, but Almiron’s father (Ruben Almiron) has certainly reignited the rumours of a move to England for his son – suggesting we are the favourites to sign him.

Here’s what his said today about the MLS star:

“He will definitely go to England, whats left to be decided is to what club but Newcastle is the one with the advantage”

He is still thought to be Rafa’s top target and our interest is genuine considering we have  sent our Head of Recruitment to the USA to negotiate a deal.

Other Premier League clubs are clearly interested, but it would appear we are front runners – provided we pay the fee that Atlanta want.

Another issue could be the potential takeover deal, will Mike Ashley want to spend big on a player if he is planning on selling? I find it highly unlikely, but time will tell.
