Perez reveals what Mike Dean said to him after Willy Boly elbow vs Wolves – This is unbelievable

If it wasn’t bad enough that Mike Dean let Will Boly get away with an elbow to the face of Ayoze Perez yesterday, the Spaniard has admitted that Dean’s reason for not giving a foul was because it was the ball that hit his face – and not Boly’s elbow.

Perez and Rafa were incensed after the game, with the gaffer calling for VAR to be introduced – and it’s no surprise given this was a blatant penalty and potential red card offence.

Here’s what Perez said after the game, revealing what Mike Dean told him after the incident:

“I don’t know what we have to do to get a penalty. The guy elbowed me really hard straight in the nose but the referee said it was the ball that hit me not the elbow, even though I was bleeding”

I find this an absolutely ridiculous excuse by Mike Dean.

Granted we have replays to watch and they don’t, but how on earth does it look like the ball hit Perez and not the elbow? His nose was gushing with blood and it would’ve had to be a rather hard hit for a ball to do that.

Even if he did think this , Perez was down because of a head injury and so the game should have been stopped. Wolves went down the other end and would’ve scored had it not been for a decent save by Dubravka.

Had Dean seen this and given the penalty, there would have been a resulting red card which would’ve meant 10 v 10, the game could’ve ended up so different. It was not one of Deans better games, with rather dubious decisions made against either side.

This should not get away from the fact that we threw the game away and failed to hold on for a point, but you can understand Rafa’s frustrations after the game.

Lascelles was an arm to the chest. Blatant and a yellow card, but this is incomparable and you know it.

One is a penalty and a chance for us to go 2-1 up (and potentially a red!) and the other is a yellow and a free kick 40 yards out!

  5. I wouldn’t believe a word that any toon player said after the Racist remarks made by Shelves towards Saiss were the toon players and Benny backed him saying he didn’t say anything even though a number of our players heard him, you lot are thoroughly up yourselves and boy do you bleat when you lose.
Even Newcastle supporting referee Mark Clattenburg said the referee got both decisions right, problem is with you lot you think you are bigger than everybody else, for all your possession you did sfa to win the match, blame your player for ambling back wereas Doherty busted a gut to get in to the area for the winner.
Start looking at your own failings before blaming others!

  6. You need to take a look at the still frame of the incident… it’s on twitter…it was clearly the ball that hit Perez the pussy in the face ..Mike Dean was absolutely spot on… your making yourself look a complete mug mate…give it a rest.

  7. How can everyone else including a Wolves “pundit” say it was clearly an elbow to the face (and even your own manager admitted that) yet you idiots say it was the ball.
Your not worth debating with as your blinded that you managed to beat us at home with ten men v eleven…or should that be twelve as clearly Mike Dean was on your side as well.

  8. All that money spent and Wolves are still ****e. The Osbourne brigade, “Sharon we need Dean’s help, cos we’re ****e”.

  9. One of the problems here is the child that cried wolf scenario. Perez is forever on the ground rolling around, gets up and raises his arms to the ref claiming to be hard done by. We as toon supporters know he goes down to easily, he is a lightweight drama queen. Subsequently, when he is fouled, as he was yesterday refs take him with contempt. Refs are getting wise to those who go to ground without reason.

  10. ….or what about:
There’s only one Mike Dean, one Mike Dean….there’s only one Mike Dean!

No malice intended….just taking the ‘Michael’!;-)))))

  11. There is a lot of foolish venom being displayed here. It’s hard to take a loss that shouldn’t have been decided by poor umpiring. If all the umpires decisions were checked by VAR, would any of the others have had the potential to produce a red card and a penalty – so Rafa and the Toon fans are right to feel hard-done-by. When the differences between teams are so fine, these umpiring failures are huge. But what goes round, comes round – Wolves fans have had their tragic unfortunate incidents too – and they sure as anything let everyone know about it. Yet, here they get the luck, win the game, but are still full of vindictive vitriol. Wow. Sad people, very sad!

Still, he would have been sent off and you would have been playing with 9 men.
