Newcastle fans will get the chance to stream tonight’s Checktrade Trophy clash with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light – with NUFC TV charging £10 for fans in the UK and £5 for supporters in the rest of the world.
It sound excessive – and it is for a game involving our U-21’s and Sunderland’s first-team – however the official site have insisted that the pricing was NOT set by the club, with EFL rules dictating this.
The game kicks off at 7.45pm at the Stadium of Light, with Newcastle’s 2,800 allocation having already sold out.
Here’s details of how you can watch it live on NUFC TV:
As you’d expect, many fans have fumed at the prices set, however the club have insisted that they’ve purely abided by EFL competition rules as far as the pricing is concerned.
It’s expensive and I imagine few will pay as a result, but it’s better that the club give fans the option to watch it at an albeit expensive price than not at all.
Back to the game itself and it’s a no lose situation for me. Win and it’ll be a low point for the Mackems to see our youngsters beat them at their own place, but lose and it’s what you’d expect after all and hardly something to gloat about on their part.
Was hoping you’d found a free dodgy stream 😯
