NUFC star makes worrying admission in brutal interview – “It’s going to be a long January..”

Ayoze Perez has admitted that ‘something is wrong’ in the Newcastle camp – saying the team has no consistency both individually and collectively.

This comes just a few days after Matt Ritchie’s brutally honest interview about the ‘lack of belief’ in and around St James’ Park and a week or so on from Rafa saying it’d be a ‘miracle’ if we stayed up.

It’s hardly a positive place to be at the moment, but the noises coming from just about everyone connected at the club right now are worrying bleak given we face a VERY tough January and a real fight to beat the drop between now and May.

Here’s what Perez has said to the Chronicle when speaking about our home form following the woeful performance against Blackburn last time out:

“It wasn’t good enough.

“Something is wrong. It wasn’t good enough but we have to keep going now.

“It’s going to be a long January but we must stick together and face up to it.”

“I don’t know exactly (what’s wrong) but it is a strange thing.

“You can’t struggle as much as we are in home games. That means something is wrong.

“It is strange because there is no consistency, sometimes it is individual performances, sometimes it’s not like that and it’s team performance.

“It can’t be individual every time as we have changed players and rotated. I think there is a piece of the jigsaw that is missing.

“It is holding us back and it’s why we are struggling. We’ve won twice at home and that’s just not acceptable.

“It’s not good enough so something should change.”

It’s hard to pinpoint just exactly what is going wrong at home – with us losing 9 league games at St James’ already this season – but I believe the motivation and buzz has just gone.

We’re no longer the newly promoted side trying to prove pundits wrong. We no longer have momentum and if anything are going backwards, with Benitez set to leave in a few months as things stand – something that will surely leave several players pretty disillusioned about their futures too.

But, at the end of the day, the big thing that is ‘wrong’ about Newcastle United is Mike Ashley – and he is the reason we’re in this mess.

  1. Ashley knows EXACTLY what needs to be done to rectify this. Hovever, his steadfast refusal to do anything about it speaks volumes about this odious crettin.
Is there no way to find out what the feelings of the Football Ascociation are ?
or is their total lack of backbone preventing any intervention until after the cancer has gone. 🙄

  2. They all need to get their fingers out and start playing rather than hiding behind excuses and platitudes …. starting with Ayoze as a serial underperformer ??
