‘£20m deal agreed’ – Cardiff set to have club record striker signed for Saturday’s six-pointer at SJP..

Even relegation rivals Cardiff are now outmuscling Newcastle in the transfer market, with prolific Ligue 1 striker Emiliano Sala now on his way to South-Wales to complete a £20m move.

The deal is not complete just yet (let’s hope it drags so he won’t be able to play on Saturday!), but his medical is expected to take place this week according to Sky Sports, meaning they are on the verge of what would be a huge boost for the club ahead of this weekend’s six pointer at St James’ Park.

He’s scored 13 goals in 18 games this season for French side Nantes – a tally only bettered by PSG star Kylian Mbappe and Nicolas Pepe; with the latter ironically being an alleged target of Rafa Benitez’s in the summer of 2017!

We’ve already seen several newly promoted sides like Bournemouth, Wolves and Fulham show more ambition than ourselves over the years, but to see Cardiff sign prolific strikers for £20m while we struggle to get loan deals over the line is a real sign of the times.

Whether he’s in a position to start on Saturday or not, Cardiff now have even more momentum ahead of what looks set to be our biggest game of the season to date – while we’re sat wondering if Rafa will get a penny to spend this month, never mind a much needed big money signing.

  1. And muppets like Ferdinand and Keys are saying we should thank Ashley. This is Cardiff we are talking about!!! And might i add no disrespect intended to Cardiff either, at least they are having a go. This could be the nail in the relegation coffin if he hits the ground running. Just **** off Mike Ashley you greedy ****

  2. Well that’s it, when teams like Cardiff are spending big money while we are stood still, Newcastle will go down this season, likely we’ll end up like Sunderland and disappear out of the top 2 leagues because Ashley won’t ensure his asset continues to make him a profit, what a fucking idiot. I have been a supporter of Newcastle for 20+ years through all the highs and lows and for the first time I have entertained the thought of finding a club worth supporting. Get your head out of your **** Mike and spend some fucking money, you want to sell for 300m? Your club is currently worth less than 50m.

  3. Standing still is effectively going backwards in this competitive league. The worst thing that could of happened was getting out of the relegation places and finishing 10th last season. It told Ashley that he has a top 10 squad, it told Ashley that Rafa can turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse to get us clear of relegation and it told Ashley that no further investment was required. I don’t know what’s worse, Rafa papering over Ashley’s buffoonery or simply supporting a team that has a chairman with zero ambition.

  4. Aye, so much for players not wanting to move to the North east. Like Cardiff is so appealing! Players will go where the money is if someone wants them.
