Manager confirms interest in signing NUFC striker – but says he isn’t ‘too excited’..

Blackpool manager Terry McPhillips has confirmed that he is interested in signing in-form Newcastle striker Elias Sorensen on loan this month.

That said, the Blackpool boss admits he is not getting ‘too excited’ about any potential deal, insisting that there are ‘a number of clubs’ also trying to sign the Danish youngster.

The 19-year-old is currently the top scorer in the Premier League 2 this season, with his outstanding record of 19-goals in all competitions earning him a new contract just last week.

Here’s what McPhillips has said about his interest in bringing Sorensen to the League One club this month:

“We are interested in him, yes, but so are a number of other clubs so we won’t get too excited about that unless it happens.”

Providing he’s be guaranteed game time on weekly basis, this could be a brilliant move for Sorensen.

Longstaff had a season on loan with Blackpool last year and he benefited from it hugely, finding himself in Rafa’s first-team plans as a result – so we’ll be hoping to achieve something similar here.

That said, it’s vital that we find the right club for Sorensen. Unless he finds a team that can play him and aid his progression, it would be better for him to continue scoring in the U-23’s.
