NUFC receive response from AC Milan after Diego Laxalt enquiry – and it’s good & bad news – Report

According to reports in Italy, AC Milan have told Newcastle that they’ll be willing to sell left-back target Diego Laxalt for £10m – however it’s reported that the player is ‘not overly keen’ on a move to Tyneside.

If true, this would appear to be a very reasonable asking price given they signed the Uruguayan for £16m over the summer, but whether Ashley is willing to sanction an eight-figure deal this month is another matter entirely.

Laxalt can operate as a left-back or a left-winger, with The Chronicle reporting earlier in the month that he is a player we made enquiries to sign earlier this month.

The 25-year-old gained several admirers over the summer for his performances in the World Cup, however he’s failed to nail down a regular spot in AC Milan’s side this season.

A move for Laxalt would make a lot of sense on several levels (pace, versatile, affordable and a player Rafa appears to have tracked for a long time), but it will all come down to Mike Ashley’s willingness to spend £10m.
