Sky News share ominous Miguel Almiron update after player is spotted following winter break

According to Sky Sports’ Pete Graves, Miguel Almiron is back training as normal with Atlanta Utd after a end of season break – claiming Newcastle will have to pay ‘around £30m‘ to sign the MLS star.

The Paraguayan has been enjoying a winter break after Atlanta were crowned MLS Cup Champions for 2018 a few weeks ago, and the player has been pictured returning for pre-season today – with former Palace boss Frank De Boer now in charge of the club.

Here’s Sky’s latest take on Almiron after his return to training in the US:

He’s clearly Rafa’s top target – that has been made clear – but it’s becoming even clearer with every day that Mike Ashley won’t pay what’s required to sign him.

The Chronicle insist that it’s his £100,000 per week wage demands that are the big stumbling block, yet Sky are now claiming Atlanta value him at ‘around £30m’. If that’s the case, it’s a case of take your pick when it comes to reasons why he won’t sing.

It was reported in the Northern Echo just a few days ago that the NUFC hierarchy valued him at just over £15m – so the fact Atlanta may want DOUBLE would just sum up how far away we are from getting a deal done.

This makes you wonder if it’s yet another smokescreen to say ‘we tried’, because the signs so far are that we have absolutely no intention of paying anything close to £30m for a player this month – despite our desperate need for new arrivals.

  1. We won’t get him, fatman has no intention of allowing Rafa to sign anyone. Totally sick of this cr@p now, every single window same BS and speculation and we end up with nowt.
    FCB OUT!

  2. Eales said 6 weeks ago that he wanted 30 million for a player untested in the EPL.

Interesting that you are shouting “smokescreen”, as the only people pushing this are the press. Nothing has been said by NUFC.

Even if we were after him, until the deal is signed it would be business as usual for him. So even if he expected to sign tomorrow, he’d still return to training today.
