Watch Miguel Almiron score stunning goal in training – This is what NUFC could miss out on..

As the Miguel Almiron transfer saga drags on, Atlanta Utd have shared a clip of the Paraguayan scoring a stunning goal in training this week – showing a glimpse of what we look set to miss out on if Ashley doesn’t splash the cash.

It’s been made clear that he is Rafa’s number one target this month, but it’s also become clear that we’re refusing to pay the asking price – whether that be to cover a club record transfer fee or big wages.

Some have suggested that a price tag of around £25m is excessive for a player who’s only proved himself in the MLS, but many believe he has all the traits to become a very capable Premier League player – possessing pace, energy and quality on the ball.

After returning to Atlanta Utd following a mid-season break, here’s what he’s been up to in training this week:

Footballer writer for the Guardian Kristin Heneage commented on the training goal on Twitter, claiming this is a prime example of what he can offer from that number 10 role:

“This is a great example of what Almiron brings to a side.

“He plays the number 10 role but not in a traditional way. His big strength is carrying the ball through the lines and being a connector between the midfield and attack.”

It really is infuriating that we’ve put in so much groundwork to sign this player, yet a deal seems so far away and so unrealistic given how reluctant Mike Ashley is to spend.

Just like deals that were there to be done for the likes of Modric, Aubameyang and Lacazzette, I wonder if this will be another ‘one that got away’ in years to come.

You have to speculate to accumulate, Mike – even if you want out..
