NUFC set to make cut-price move for Sunderland star? This would be priceless..

According to Teamtalk, Newcastle are now competing with West Ham to sign Sunderland contract rebel Josh Maja – a deal that could be pretty priceless in more ways than one.

The 20-year-old striker is not only Sunderland’s top scorer – with 15 goals this season (more than double anyone else in the league) – but rated as one of their top young talents at the club. However, he’s refusing to sign a new deal.

The story claims that Sunderland have offered him a contract worth £6,000 per week, but he’s thought to want double – and we’re said to be one of several clubs ready to give him that.

His contract expires in the summer, meaning he could be available on a cut-price deal this month – and the latest reports suggesting he will not be signing a new deal mean Sunderland could be forced to cash in while they’re able to get a fee this month.

Our interest in signing both Maja and former youngster Asoro was confirmed last year, so it seems we are admirers of Maja, with TeamTalk stating that both ourselves, West Ham, Middlesbrough and several sides in Germany are keen to snap him up.

Here’s him in action this season:

  1. But at 20 years old they will get a fee for him when his contract expires. Be it an agreed fee or set by a tribunal.

  2. It’s either journeymen or schoolboys nufc are chasing what a club to be proud of we have become. Relegation will be the only way nufc will rid themselves of Mike Ashley.

  3. How come whenever a player’s linked to us it always also linked with West ham. Personally I don’t think this kid is any better than Sorensen who we have just loaned out to Blackpool to get first team experience in the same league as Sunderland.

  4. 1 goal in 17 championship appearances last season.

Last thing NUFC is another mercenary especially when I don’t think he adds anything to our current strikeforce
