Ex-Premier League chairman reveals why Ashley won’t sell – but he’s totally contradicted himself..

Ex-Palace Chairman Simon Jordan has totally contradicted himself on the NUFC takeover front, telling talkSPORT yesterday why Mike Ashley is no rush to sell – just months after being adamant he was on his way out.

Claiming to know Ashley personally, Jordan seems to insist on having a say on Newcastle United – despite having no affiliation or affection for the club. The often controversial businessman is most likely using our demise to create publicity and media work for himself, as he often appears on the Sky Sports show ‘The Debate’.

Here’s what Jordan said on TalkSPORT just yesterday, followed by what he had to say about a takeover just after Christmas last year:

Here’s what Jordan then said about the takeover situation just a month ago back on December 27th – saying he was sure ‘without a shadow of a doubt’ that Ashley was off:

We all know TalkSPORT peddles garbage, especially on anything NUFC related. It was only a few months ago one of the hosts ‘Moose’ claimed we only fill SJP because there is “nothing else to do in Newcastle.” Jordan clearly knows Ashley and it is hard to get away from the notion that he is yet another paid media member as part of a wider Ashley PR drive.

He joins the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Dennis Wise, Richard Keys et al in a farcical pro-Ashley media campaign, so it is no surprise at the start of the window Jordan claimed Ashley was on the verge of selling (to take the pressure off him not signing players this month) and has now performed a frankly embarrassing u-turn.

The infuriating part of all this as a Newcastle fan is shows like Talksport continually running propaganda like this and not even recognising that they are contradicting messages on their own show, just weeks previously. Media outlets need to be better and take more care on reporting on clubs, not just Newcastle.

  1. On a radio station full of pompous fools, Jordan is King.
He bases his entire knowledge on all things NUFC entirely on this claim. “I know all about NUFC because I lived next door to SJH some time in the nineties in Spain”. Strangely that claim shifts between SJH and Shepherd, but how that qualifies him to understand NUFC and the fans is beyond comprehension. All it does is confirm what an arrogant clown he is. If you lived next door to somebody called Prince would that qualify you as an expert in the Royal family?
He contradicts himself frequently – as do the rest of them. I think anybody listening to the station quickly becomes an expert in comedy in football. It’s alive and well. Apparently we deserve all we get for not being grateful to Ashley for destroying our club. After all, southerners know what’s best for us, we should just learn to know our place. Now, pass me my flat cap I need to take my whippet for a walk.

What a load of absolute *****.

If Kenyon or any of the others had come up with an acceptable offer on time Ashley would have been off like a rat up an aquaduct. True statement. Nothing wrong with that.

Now the deal didn’t come off Ashley’s in no hurry. Nothing will happen now until at least summer because prospective buyers wont even consider making an offer until we’re safe. True statement.

Are you seriously trying to call out Jordan for doing a U-turn?

Are you just not capable of seeing that he was right on both counts? 2 correct statements made at different times under different circumstances?

    Don’t be such a ****.
