According to the Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, Newcastle could sell Joselu in the final few days of the January window – with TWO clubs said to be interested.
The report does insist that Rafa will only be happy to see let him leave if a replacement is signed – with us having just Rondon and Muto as the only other two senior strikers on our books (and one of those we don’t even own!).
Ryder states that there’s been interest in Joselu from China, but it’s said that two clubs from Europe are trying to sign him.
A well run club would sign a striker first and then allow him to leave, but knowing Mike Ashley he’ll be keen to see a sale go through before he considers a replacement.
We wouldn’t miss Joselu and many fans would be happy to see the back of a striker who’s proven he really can’t hit a barn door at this level, but letting him go and leaving it too late to replace him would be another nail in the coffin as far as Rafa’s concerned.
The Spanish striker has been woeful over the past two years, but I wouldn’t expect a £5m striker to guarantee you much more than 4 goals a season – especially in an era where average 10 goal strikers cost you £15m plus in this day and age.
Thats the only believable story I’ve heard so far in this window.
But hang on…isn’t he injured??
