According to the Mirror’s Simon Bird, Newcastle are also in talks to sign Nantes winger Anthony Limbombe and Benfica’s Andreas Samaris – with a deal for Antionio Barreca also lined up once Miguel Almiron is announced.
A club record deal for Almiron and a loan deal with an option to buy for Monaco left-back Antonio Barreca both appear to be imminent, with both on Tyneside for medicals, however this report suggests Rafa is also pushing to sign a winger and midfielder in Limbombe and Samaris.
With Murphy said to be edging closer to a loan move away and Hayden wanting out, deals for both would see them come in as direct replacements.
Here’s a snippet from Simon’s latest transfer piece for the Mirror – suggesting TWO more could sign after Barreca and Almiron are announced:
“Anthony Limbombe the Nantes winger is in talks to join on loan.
“Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris and Monaco left back Antonio Barreca are also lined up.”
Interestingly, Limbombe has just been left out of Nantes’ squad to face St Etienne in Ligue 1 tonight – something that will only fuel the fire as far as his exit is concerned.
As far as Samaris is concerned, Sky continue to say that we are pushing to bring him in before Thursday’s 11pm deadline, however there has been claims from Portugal that he’s set to be offered a new deal to stay with Benfica.
