Deal for deadline day signing has now “collapsed” – The Telegraph

According to the Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Newcastle’s move to sign Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris has ‘collapsed’.

As a result, Edwards not states that is is now ‘highly unlikely’ Isaac Hayden is allowed to leave the club – unless we make a late move to sign an alternative midfield target between now and the 11pm deadline tonight

Details of why it collapsed are not yet known, however it had been reported as a loan deal – despite the midfielder’s contract being due to expire in the summer with the Portuguese giants.

On the plus side, deals for Almiron and Barreca seems imminent, with Luke Edwards reporting just moments ago that a ‘surprise permanent deal’ is being negotiated behind the scenes.

For now though, let’s just hope this update on Samaris is the only disappointing news we hear today!
