After criticising Rafa’s approach to Saturday’s defeat at Spurs, Richard Keys (surprise surprise) has been shot down brilliantly on Twitter by Ian Wright – and it’s been a long time coming.
Wright, perhaps influenced by his friendship with Toon legend Alan Shearer, is one of the few pundits who is well informed on Newcastle and the Ashley era in particular. He also recently appeared on the True Geordie podcast and admitted even he couldn’t defend Rio Ferdinand on his recent embarrassing opinions on NUFC, despite them also being close friends.
Here’s how Wrighty responded to Richard Keys’ petty tweet during Saturday’s game:
Wright says it all for Newcastle fans here really and it is refreshing seeing more and more non NUFC fans realising the ridiculous agenda Keys has against Benitez. Surely a defensive shape, away from home against a top 3 side, is how any bottom half side would have set up against Tottenham.
We beat Manchester city with the same team and tactics and Keys forgets we looked good for a point at Spurs, Rondon even hitting the woodwork – and only lost due to a goalkeeper error from the usually excellent Dubravka.
The Chronicle made a stance to just ignore Keys last year as his agenda was so clearly anti-Benitez and ill-informed but it’s always nice when people like Wright are there to put him in his place. Long may it continue.
Well done Ian Wright putting the ******** in his place. Who is he anyway???
