Footage has emerged of Alan Shearer as he watched Sergio Aguero score to equal his record for the most hat-tricks in Premier League history today.
Big Al was leading the way with 11 Premier League hat-tricks prior to Man City’s Super Sunday clash with Chelsea, but a 6-0 mauling and another treble from Aguero saw the Argentinian collect another match ball, matching Shearer’s all time record in the process.
Here’s Shearer’s reaction – captured by ex-Mag and fellow Match of the Day pundit Jermaine Jenas:
A gracious reaction from Shearer – although I think we can all see a slight look of disappointment as Aguero tucked away that penalty to match his record! He’s since tweeted “It must be great having midfielders like De Bruyne playing behind him!!” – and he’s not wrong!
Shearer still holds the record for most goals in Premier League history on 260, but he may be struggling to keep a hold of this accolade if Harry Kane stays in the country and continues scoring at the rate he has over the past few years.
Kane is 25 and on 122 goals as things stand, so seven more years of 20-goal seasons and there’ll be another record of Shearer’s under serious threat!
Nice subtle dig/banter at Jermaine there with his, must be nice to have De Bruyne behind you tweet. 🙂 😎

Might have to come out of retirement and put some more in the net to keep hold of most goals Alan 😛
