Almiron did something several fans missed – but it convinced me he’ll be adored at NUFC..

NUFC new boy Miguel Almiron’s electric pace may have caught the eye of most fans last night during his 20 minute cameo at Wolves, but there was one other thing he did that left me so impressed..

In the final few minutes, the Paraguayan went to win the ball with his head while lying on the floor, showing he was prepared to take a kick in the face to protect our 1-0 lead.

Considering it was clear within minutes that he had the sort of pace and direct style to get bums of seats inside St James’ Park, it was absolutely brilliant to see that he was fearless in more ways than one and happy to put his body on the line for the team.

Those who knew him well from his time at Atlanta have previously praised his work rate, his exemplary attitude and his focus on being a team player, and this moment was proof of that and more.

Some questioned how he’d cope with the physical demands of Premier League football, but if last night’s late cameo was anything to go by, he’s certainly not afraid to get stuck in, put his head in where it hurts and give 110% for the team.

Great to see!

It wasnt a mistake…it was a foul , plain and simple.

  4. You know what really p155es me off no end ?
All the work Martin put in last night, all the incredible reaction saves, yet still the only talking point is 1 mistake. What about the other 94 mins where he was phenomenal. Yes he should maybe have punched his lines clear but please don’t put it all on his shoulders.
Even Lejeune looked lost at times as did half the team.
As for miggy I love him already.
Pace and direction is what our midfield onwards was missing.
Hopefully now we can gain some credibility in attack instead of 80% defending.

  6. Dubravka was tremendous throughout pulling two or three top drawer saves , keeping us in it, no one (including myself) saying Rondon should have scored, as that what strikers are for. Brav has saved / won us more points than anyone since his arrival. Against Spurs yes a mistake but again some great saves. Worst thing is Almiron gets brought down right under the linesman’s nose FFS. Give him great praise for the trying to tackle with his head as all the flair players do!Welcome Miggy
What do we have to do to get rub of the green and the score on 94 mins 40 seconds in 4 added minutes. VAR I am sure would protect the keeper, just as it would have shown Boly elbowing Perez at home FFS give us some support referees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. I waiting for Premier League to get VAR. The *** had his arms and hands on and in front of the goalie’s face. When I slow down the video , it looks like his forearms were on his shoulders.
