Incredible Sean Longstaff stat emerges following “outstanding” performance vs Wolves..

Sean Longstaff has made things look easy since getting his chance in the team (always a sign of quality), but there’s been one major part of his game that’s been just as impressive – his constant running off the ball.

Not for the first time in recent weeks, it was revealed late on that he covered more distance than any other player – with him running 12.65km last night (almost 1km more than anyone else on the field).

This is him up against a notoriously hard working Wolves side too, showing just how much good work he’s doing both on AND off the ball.

Considering he’s looked so composed and calm on the ball, this, combined with his tackles and ability to win second balls, really has made him seem the full package so far.

It’s early days, but he really has been absolutely sensational over the last month – with him appearing almost undroppable right now; even if Ki and Shelvey are close to returning.

Not only that, the 21-year-old has just been named @MOTDmag‘s Young Player of the Month for January.

This comes after the midfielder gained praise on social media from the likes of Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, with the footballing world (and not just NUFC fans) now starting to see just how impressive he’s been since his introduction into the team.

They weren’t the only ones who were impressed either, with Sky commentator Andy Hinchcliffe saying the following:

What a mature performance in such an important position in front of your back-three,”

“He has done every bit asked of him, he has passed the ball well, he has been competitive, he has been up against some really experienced quality players in that Wolves midfield, and he has been outstanding.

A future star at St James’ Park? He’s a current one if he continues playing like this..
