Amanda Staveley makes big NUFC admission – & reveals her stance on Mike Ashley after takeover talks

Amanda Staveley has admitted that she STILL holds interest in taking over at Newcastle United – also insisting that she has ‘no issue’ with Mike Ashley despite his claims that she was a time waster.

This comes just over a year on from her failed attempt to buy the club, with Ashley believed to have rejected several of her bids – which included clauses and caveats.

Staveley has now spoken out on the matter for the first time since Ashley called off talks in January 2018 – and her comments suggest she’s still keen (even if she admits there’s ‘lots of clubs’ she’s looking at).

Here’s what she’s had to say when speaking to The National in Dubai this week:

“We are big fans of Newcastle, big fans of the team.

“We have no issue with Mr Ashley, that [the ‘time waster’ claim] is water under the bridge. It’s still an interesting club to us, the fans are fantastic, but we are looking at a lot of clubs.”

I’m not pinning my hopes on Staveley – especially when she emphasises that we are just one of several clubs she’s looking at.

I’m sure Ashley isn’t easy to negotiate with, but if we stay up this season and she really wants to takeover the club, it’s time for her to put her money where her mouth is and make a substantial bid.

  1. She may not have an issue with Ashley but the rest of the UAE do after his antics with Sheik Mansoor 10 years ago….
