Alan Shearer has named TWO Newcastle United players in his Premier League team of the week – Ayoze Perez and Paul Dummett.
Perez’s inclusion was inevitable following his hat-trick and outstanding all round display in the 3-1 win over Southampton, however Dummett’s pick is thoroughly deserved.
The local lad was absolutely brilliant at the back on Saturday, standing strong when others wobbled in the second half and putting in several goal-saving blocks and clearances to deny Southampton.
As you can see above, both Perez and Dummett are joined in Big Al’s team of the week by former Mag Gini Wijnaldum – a player who played a part in Cardiff’s defeat on Sunday; a result that confirmed we were are now mathematically safe from relegation.
Well deserved recognition for both NUFC stars here, with unsung hero Dummett gaining some well earned praise for preserving our lead as Southampton piled the pressure on at 2-1.
