Some incredible footage has emerged of Florian Lejeune just a handful of days after knee surgery, showing the Frenchman up on his feet and walking around unaided in hospital.
As we know, the centre-back suffered yet another devastating cruciate knee ligament injury in the 0-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace earlier this month – suffering the exact same injury that kept him out for the first few months of this 2018/19 season.
He’s now gone under the knife in Rome last week and not only has the surgery been a success, he’s up on both feet and walking around, allowing him to start the rehabilitation process sooner than expected:
Seeing him up and walking about (albeit gingerly!) without any assistance not only shows what a strong start he’s made to the recovery process, but also highlights just how determined this guy is – and that’s key after the crushing blow of two ACL’s within the space of a year!
Thankfully, the expert surgeons and rehabilitation programme he was put on last summer allowed him to return within 4 months, so let’s hope he can be back before we know it once again.
He’ll be a big miss, with him looking set to miss pre-season and the start of our 2019/20 campaign, but it’s brilliant to see him back on his feet.
Get well soon Florian!
