Great news – Rafa Benitez confirms ‘positive’ talks with NUFC – “Things have moved forward”

Rafa Benitez has confirmed he’s now held ‘positive’ talks with the club this week – stating that ‘things have moved forward’ as far as him signing a new deal is concerned.

This comes from the Spaniard’s press conference in the last few moments, with this appearing to be the most positive and upbeat he’s been regarding his future at the club.

Nothing appears to be agreed as of yet, but he does insist that a statement will be released ‘when we have news’ – suggesting things have certainly moved forward this week following talks with Lee Charnley.

Here’s what he’s had to say to the press in the last few moments:

“We’ve had further talks this week. They’ve been positive & things have moved forward.

“We have time. We will let you know when we have news.”

“I know the fans are trying the emotional way like they did in the first year and I can feel that from them. They want the best for the team like us.

Do the positives outweigh the negatives? Yes.”

These are hugely promising comments from Benitez.

It seems nothing is set in stone just yet regarding his future, but these are reassuring words from the gaffer ahead of what could be his final game at St James’ Park tomorrow night.
