NUFC linked with moves for Premier League striker, Swiss left-back & Monaco winger

With the 2018/19 season almost over and the summer window edging closer, transfer links are inevitable and three more have emerges over the past 24 hours – Danny Welbeck, Mehdi Zerkane and Loris Benito.

Starting with Welbeck, Football Insider are claiming that we’ve already made a move to sign the striker who’s all set to leave Arsenal and become available on a free this summer.

They report that we’re aiming to ‘steal a march’ on both Everton and West Ham – two clubs also said to be keen on the out-of-contract 28-year-old.

Then to the next link, with the Sun stating that we’ve been Switzerland international left-back Loris Benito – the former Benfica defender who could leave Young Boys on a free this summer.

The 27-year-old stands 6-foot tall and can also operate as a centre-back, with him being one of Young Boys’ star players, bagging 6 assists on their way to another Swiss Super League title this season.

Finally, French outlet GFFN claim we’re in talks to sign Monaco winger Mehdi Zerkane – a 19-year-old set to be available on a free transfer this summer (a theme is emerging here!)

The right-sided winger has featured in Monaco’s U-19 side in the UEFA youth league this season and could be a player Benitez is keen to add to our U-23 ranks this summer.

Three new links and three soon-to-be free agents. Make of that what you will!

  1. Wouldn’t have Welbeck. Spent the last 5 years on the treatment table, not that much younger than Rondon and would want a very heafty wage packet.
